A CRASH at the Creg ny Baa junction on the Mountain Road in the early hours of Saturday resulted in a man and a woman, being taken to Noble’s Hospital with injuries described as serious.

The accident occurred around 12.55am at the junction with the Creg-ny-Baa Back Road.

Police closed the road from Brandywell junction through to Hillberry corner while emergency services dealt with the accident.

Ambulance and fire crews attened and cutting equipment had to be used to get to the injured occupants.

They had been travelling north from Douglas in a dark-green Ford Scorpio. Full details of the accident have not been released, though no other vehicles were involved.

A wall at Creg ny Baa was damaged.

The road was re-opened by 5am, with a warning of caution to drivers that part of the damaged wall was still on the road, to be cleared by Department of Infrastructure staff at first light.

As the Examiner went to press the police were unable to provide an update on the condition or identity of the two people involved.

Police are however still appealing for witnesses or anyone with information to contact police headquarters on 631212.
