Cargo ship Silver River attracted some unusual attention moored at Glasson Dock recently.
The boat, which completes regular trips between the Isle of Man and the Lancashire docks just south of Heysham, proved a source of fascination for some of the local farm animals.
Mezeron assistant manager Matthew Lamberton said: ‘We weren’t carrying cattle feed – just a general cargo.
‘We had just finished loading and it’s a tidal port on the River Lune. We were waiting for the tide to come in ready to sail. There are fields nearby and the cattle graze all the way down.
‘It’s also a popular area for ornithologists but we’ve no idea what attracted the cows down to the boat. I’ve never known them to do it before!’
