PUPILS from Onchan and Ashley Hill have cooked up recipes for Christmas sausages that are now on sale at Village Meats butcher shop, in Onchan.

Dave Connolly, who opened his business earlier this year, said there was a high quality of entries in the Christmas Sausage Competition.

The winning sausage from Ashley Hill School was designed by Hollie-Jean Hodgson, aged nine.

Named the Christmas Sausage it is made up of turkey, chestnuts, onion, bacon and cranberries.

Meanwhile, Onchan School’s winning entry was by Matthew Eisen, aged five.

The BOSS Sausage – which stands for Brilliant Onchan School Sausage – is a collaboration of pork, pear, garlic, sage and onion, cranberries, cinnamon, nutmeg and cloves.

In a poem submitted with his entry, the sausage is described as having the ‘taste of Christmas all in one bite’.

Mr Connolly said: ‘All of the entries were of top quality and I shall be displaying them all in my shop over the festive period.

‘I really would like to thank all of those who entered for their wonderful ideas, it’s a shame I can’t make them all.

‘But Hollie-Jean and Matthew’s designs were of real fantastic quality and they really are very deserving winners who should be extremely proud of their creative abilities.’

Twenty pence from each lb of these two sausages sold will go to the relevant school.

The sausages will be on sale until December 24.
