A TEAM of walkers from GE Aviation (Team GE Aviators) have presented Crossroads Care with funds raised from completing the Parish Walk.

The team, consisting of Brian Kelly, Mike Kaighin, Liam O’Malley and Paul Wood, walked a total of 316.5 miles within the 24 hour deadline and finished fifth out of 57 in the overall teams’ category.

Through sponsorship from family, friends and work colleagues and Target Tools Ltd, the team raised £1,750 for Crossroads Care.

Brian Kelly of Team GE Aviators said: ‘This year our Parish Walk team put in a fantastic joint effort covering 316 miles between us: myself 85 miles in 17h 53m 07s, Mike Kaighin 85 miles in 19:45.51, Liam O’Malley 85 miles in 21:21.03 and Paul Wood 61 miles in 16:27.05).’

He added: ‘This was the second time that we had entered a team in the event and we were determined to put in a good performance and use the experience to help raise funds for a worthy cause.

‘Although the race day weather was not ideal we all managed to achieve our personal goals.’

Preparation for next year’s event has already begun for the team, who will be chasing another finish and aiming to raise more money for local charities.
