Tesco Stores Ltd can extend its home shopping facility at its Lake Road, Douglas store after its application(13/91316/B) was approved by planners.

The work includes an extension to the rear of the store, a new van loading canopy, realignment of a yard fence and reconfiguration of the access road.

In the submission, it said the proposed enlarged yard was into a least used part’ of the smaller car park.

It stated: ‘Tesco offer a nationwide internet based home shopping operation enabling customers to order their shopping online and then have the goods delivered to a location of choosing during a pre-agreed time slot.

‘The popularity of the home shopping experience amongst customers has been increasing over the last few years and Tesco need to improve the capacity of the operation at numerous stores.’

There would be no customer access.

Staff pick the pre-ordered shopping from the sales floor and transport it on Dotcom trollies to the home shopping facility, where it’s stored in the Dotcom marshalling area, which includes the enlarged cold rooms, until the pre-agreed delivery time.
