THE island’s former First Deemster Jack Corrin is to receive the Tynwald Honour after a recommendation from the Tynwald Honours Committee was approved by politicians.

Mr Corrin who recently stepped down as chairman of the Manx Blind Welfare Society and was chairman of the Manx Workshop for the Disabled for 28 years, also served as the island’s deputy governor and as attorney general in a long and distinguished career.

Previous recipients of the honour have included artist Norman Sayle in 2007, Isle of Man Newspapers’ farming correspondent Harvey Briggs in 2008 and Dr Brian Stowell in 2010.

The honour is to be officially bestowed on July 5.
