Police have issued an update on their investigation into Saturday’s fatal accident.
Ballaugh Primary School pupil Alexis French, aged 10, was killed when a bus and a car were involved in a collision outside Castletown.
A bus travelling from Castletown towards Port Erin and a silver BMW coming in the opposite direction were involved in a collision on the main Castletown to Port Erin road near its junction with the Ballakaighen straight at about 3.40pm.
Inspector Jed Bibby, who is leading inquiries, this morning said: ‘The investigation into Saturday’s fatal collision has continued with officers speaking to witnesses from the bus and those directly in the vicinity of both vehicles involved on Saturday’s incident.
‘On a positive note, Alexis’s brother has continued to make good progress and responded well to treatment and is now conscious and able to speak.
‘His mother has been transferred over to the UK for further treatment on her injuries but also to be with her husband and son.
‘Alexis’s father remains in a serious but stable condition.’
Inspector Bibby added: ‘I would like to thank the response from the public and witnesses that have come forward. The comments and thoughts posted throughout the week on social media have been of great comfort to Alexis’s mum.’
