COME considerable rain or shine, Wayne Perry has worn his shorts to work every day since the end of March.
Wayne, aged 50, works for Isle of Man Airport handling agent Menzies and can be seen doing everything from helping passengers to disembark from aircraft to pushing back planes from their stand while in his shorts.
Wayne, of Malew Street, Castletown, decided to brave the elements to raise money for Eva Rose’s Garden at Rebecca House children’s hospice.
‘It’s not been easy,’ Wayne said.
‘We’ve just not had a summer this year. You’ve got no shelter.’
He said last Thursday’s weather, which saw him being hit by heavy rain and hail stones was ‘extreme’.
When asked what his colleagues thought of his fundraising challenge, Wayne said: ‘They think I’m nuts probably!’
Last year Wayne raised money for Hospice Isle of Man in a similar shorts-wearing challenge.
Following his success, he agreed to do a similar challenge this year.
He hopes to raise £2,000 towards the £20,000 needed to create a garden for the benefit of patients and families at the Braddan children’s hospice.
