Who hit this car and drove off?

A MOTORIST who hit a car and drove off is being hunted by police.

The incident happened on Sunday at about 11:20am on Palace Road, Douglas.

A woman was placing her six-year-old grandson into the rear seat of her car, a dark Mercedes.

She was standing in the road with the rear door open.

A small grey car drove past and hit the open door, missing the woman and her grandson by inches.

The Mercedes’ door was damaged.

Despite the potential serious consequences of the collision the driver of the grey car didn’t stop to see if the woman or her grandson were injured.

PC Jonathan Cretney said: ‘This collision could have had fatal consequences and the driver of the grey car has left the scene leaving his wing mirror behind. It was only luck that no one was seriously hurt.’

Anyone with information should contact PC Jonathan Cretney at Lord Street police station directly on 631212 or through Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
