Wild, Corkish, Coleman and Turner elected to Legislative Council

THE election of four members to the Legislative Council has been completed.

Tony Wild, Geoff Corkish, Michael Coleman and Juan Turner were elected following seven rounds of voting.

Mr Wild and Mr Corkish were successful in the first round, picking up 16 votes and 14 votes respectively. The former wins back his seat in LegCo while the elevation of the latter to the upper house will force a House of Keys by-election in the Douglas West constituency.

Manx Labour Party member Mr Coleman then secured 14 votes in the third round of voting to secure him a place.

But it took until the seventh round of voting for Juan Turner to get the 13 votes he needed win back his LegCo seat.

Speaking afterwards, Mr Coleman, 65, of Tromode, said he felt ‘humbled’ to be elected.
