A mountain biker was rescued by a helicopter and airlifted to hospital at the weekend.
The coastguard was alerted by a 999 call on Saturday afternoon that reported there was an injured woman mountain biker at a location given as somewhere on the coastal footpath north of Glen Maye.
As her exact location was not known, Peel coastguard’s rescue team searched the area and found the casualty and, having done so, worked with paramedics and members of the hazardous area response team to stabilise her condition.
Due to the location and nature of the casualty’s injuries, a rescue helicopter from RAF Valley was called in to airlift the casualty to Noble’s Hospital’s helipad where it was met by members of Douglas coastguard rescue team.
The injured woman was transferred to the accident and emergency department.
Peel lifeboat was also launched and stood off during the incident.
