ORGANISERS are urging people to send in their application forms to volunteer at September’s Commonwealth Youth Games over the next week, so allocation of roles can begin.
More than 600 applications have already been received, though there are 200 places left, and time is running out. The committee is particularly keen to hear from people who would like to be marshals and stewards, qualified mini bus drivers or anyone would like to take on the role of Tosha, the mascot. Litter pickers are also in demand, to ensure venues remain looking their best and ensure visitors leave with a good impression of the Isle of Man.
Victoria Karran of the volunteer committee said: ‘Volunteers will be the face of the Games and critical to their success – it simply could not happen without their involvement’.
Present at this year’s games will be world champion gymnast Beth Tweddle, Olympic gold medalist Dame Kelly Holmes, and Olympic swimmer Sarah Price.
