Youth Games lead to weekend road closures

MOTORISTS face disruption over the weekend as roads close to accommodate the Commonwealth Youth Games.

Today (Saturday), the following Douglas roads will be closed until 4.30pm while cycling races take place:

• Park Avenue from its junction with Glencrutchery Road to its junction with Ballanard Road

• Ballanard Road from its junction with Park Avenue to its junction with Scholague Road

• Scholague Road from its junction with Ballanard Road to its junction with Johnny Watterson’s Lane

• Johnny Watterson’s Lane from its junction with Scholague Road to its junction with the A18 Mountain Road

• A18 Mountain Road from its junction with Johnny Watterson’s Lane to its junction with Glencrutchery Road

• Glencrutchery Road from Governors Bridge to its junction with Park Avenue.

The whole of the course will be open to vehicles and pedestrians from 12.15pm to 1pm.

Tomorrow (Sunday), the following Douglas roads will be closed from 12.15pm to 6.15 pm:

• Broadway from its junction with Victoria Road to its junction with Harris Promenade

• Harris Promenade from its junction with Broadway to the right turn junction opposite the Gaiety Theatre.

During these times parking will be suspended on:

• Broadway from its junction with Victoria Road to its junction with Harris Promenade

• Harris Promenade from its junction with Broadway to the right turn junction opposite the Gaiety Theatre

• Central Promenade from 26 metres north east of its junction with the E26 lane and the Esplanade in a north easterly direction for 26 metres

• Finch Road from its junction with Mount Havelock to its junction with Prospect Hill.
