Zac Efron Isle of Man-bound for film premiere
ZAC Efron will be back in town tomorrow night.
The 22-year-old heart throb is unveiling his new film – Me and Orson Welles – shot in the Gaiety Theatre last year.
He will be joined by co-stars Claire Danes (Romeo and Juliet) and newcomer Christian McKay, and the film's director Richard Linklater who all flew in to Britain for the Leicester Square premier on Wednesday.
There the teen hunk, who leapt to fame in the Disney franchise High School Musical, was mobbed by thousands of screaming girls.
The Manx premiere of the film will fittingly take place at the Douglas theatre with an opportunity for fans to meet the stars when they make a short public appearance outside at about 8pm.
This week, Zac said of the Isle of Man: 'I liked the idea of going to a fairly secluded place and to fly away for a couple of weeks... I was so excited to leave all the attention behind, we had a small crowd of young girls and boys hooraying us as we would drive up to set.
'It's incredibly endearing and cool that they would do that kind of thing for you. I'm very grateful. To be honest, I think our crew and the rest of the cast got a big kick out of it.'
Trade and Industry Minister David Cretney said: 'We are thrilled to have the stars of Me and Orson Welles back on the Island, and we know local people are excited to have them here too.
'We expect Zac and his co-stars to make a public appearance outside the Gaiety at approximately 8pm on Saturday night so don't be disappointed if you can't get a ticket to the premiere. You should still get a chance to see the stars and director of the film.'
Tickets for the premiere, costing 25, and a few 75 VIP tickets are still available on 600555 between 10am to 9pm.
