THIS year’s Festival of Youth went off with a bang in the heart of Douglas town centre.

Youngsters took part in a wide-ranging programme of events which included live music, a skate jam and circus performance.

The inaugural festival took place last year, to coincide with the Commonwealth Youth Games.

This year some of the island’s finest young creative arts performers gathered together to show off their skills.

Castle Street became Beat Street for the day, with music, graffiti art, freestyle street dance and rap combining to create a carnival atmosphere.

The event, sponsored by Sure, saw a main stage set up in Howard Street for musicians to perform live and a special pop up skatepark was set up in Regent Street.

There were street performances, including from The Play People, who staged a Zombie Walk through the centre of town.
