Five men from a Warrington IT company will row from Anglesey to the Isle of Man on August 2 in aid of charity.

Tom Swift, James Parle, Adam Ollier, Michael Ruck and Paul Kennedy will set off from Bullbay at around 5am.

The plan is to arrive in Port St Mary around lunch time, refuel and wait for the tide to turn which is just after 3pm, then turn the boat around and start the long row back.

Michael Ruck said: ‘We’re really hoping to make it back to Bullbay before 10pm but as nobody has rowed to the Isle of Man and back before (that we know of) we literally don’t know for sure how long its going to take us.

‘We will have a safety boat with us all of the way carrying additional rowers, first aiders etc just in case someone on the boat is injured.

‘Depending on the weather, sunstroke and dehydration are real concerns.’

The men are rowing to raise funds for St Rocco’s Hospice in Warrington.
