Peel Commissioners are angered over what they describe as the ‘out of control’ situation at the town’s Fenella beach car park.
Complaints about large motor homes blocking the sea view have also been received, but it is the rubbish being left there which was the main concern for Jackie O’Hallora, who raised the issue at last week’s meeting.
‘Nobody does anything,’ she said. ‘We need a meeting with the harbours board [which has responsibility for the area] and Ann Reynolds [director of harbours].’
Commissioner Ian Davison said: ‘Come TT Week we end up with people preferring to squat down there, emptying all sorts on to the rocks.
‘One person even told me they’d seen someone defecating on the rocks last year.’
Mrs Reynolds said she hoped to have a meeting with the commissioners soon.
‘It is a very popular car park for all types of users, none more so during the TT fortnight,’ she said.
‘Under the terms of the car parking order parking is permitted for a maximum of 18 hours in any 24 hour period.
‘The Department [of Infrastructure] increases the amount of bin emptying to deal with the increased volume of material which you would normally expect around the TT festival.’
