AROUND 30 people donned their walking boots and took part in Patrick’s Diamond Jubilee Parish Walk.

The walk took place on Saturday, September 1, starting at Glen Maye Chapel and Community Centre and was the parish’s final event to mark this year’s Queen’s Diamond Jubilee.

There was the option of two different walks – a 10-mile walk through Glen Rushen, down Barnell and along the cliff path to Glen Maye, or a shorter five-mile walk through Glen Rushen and down the Mollagh Veddn.

Captain of the Parish Pat Costain said: ‘It went very well. Most people did the shorter walk, 10 people finished the longer 10 miles walk, including a child.’

She hopes people will remember the Diamond Jubilee because of the events held in the parish to mark the occasion.

Some walkers suggested there should be more regular walks because there are many good ones in the parish, she added.
