Newcomers Rob Callister and Julie Edge have been elected in Onchan.

Long-time MHK David Quirk has been voted out.

Liberal Vannin representative Julie Edge steps into Peter Karran’s shoes in Onchan.

She is believed to be the first woman to represent the constituency.

She said: ‘I didn’t expect to win my first time standing, it’s not often that happens.

‘I am delighted to be able to represent the people of Onchan and the island.’

Rob Callister had tears in his eyes as the results were announced.

He said: ‘I am looking forward to really represent the people of Onchan with a strong voice.’

He paid tribute to his wife Ellen for the sacrifices she has made. They celebrate their 10th wedding anniversary tomorrow (Friday).

The old constituency has lost a roughly a third of its population as the rural area, Lakeside Gardens and Howstrake have moved into Garff.
