MCFLY stole the show on the third day of Peel Bay Festival.
They played a good mix of songs from their new album and well-known hits including Five Colours In Her Hair, That Girl, Obviously, It's All About You and a cover of Queen's Don't Stop Me Now.
McFly told the audience of their surprise at seeing the palm trees on arrival at Ronaldsway airport and that they were more than happy to make the hospital visit.
Meanwhile, Dougie announced that he had worms!
McFly left the stage to rapturous applause and definitely left the crowd wanting more.
Ronan Keating, who last played in the Island 12 years ago with Boyzone, also received a great welcome.
After apologising to the crowd for wearing sunglasses (due to an eye infection) he played a few favourites, which were well received, and more from his recent album.
Ronan sang, for the first time, a track he had written during a recent trip to Memphis – Superman – which went down well with the crowd.
An Elvis Costello cover, Pump It Up, was also very popular as was Lovin' Each Day and The Long Goodbye.
DO YOU AGREE WITH OUR REVIEW?Send us your viewsYOUR COMMENTSI think you went to a different show to me. I thought Ronan Keating was far the surperior act on the night. He out shone Mcfly 110%, surperb vocals and fantastic band, he had the audience up on their feet and dancing from the start there is no way on earth that you could say that Mcfly stole that show, unless you have some kind of an axe to grind maybe.
KAREN MOOREMy daughter thought Mcfly "were the best" but she would, she is only eight. I on the other hand thought Ronan stole the show. A great even balance of two bands, one for the youngsters and one for the mums.
I am slightly older than eight though, that might have a bearing on it.... how old i hear you ask.....my secret.
JNot at the show I went too! Mcfly warmed up the crowd brilliantly, and when Ronan took to the stage the whole tent was bouncing with atmosphere…. Everyone was standing and dancing, it was superb, well worth every penny!
LISAHat (pink or pale blue)off to McFly they did the buisness and definitely blew the young fans away...and I dare say converted if not won respect from a few of the devout Ronan fans (and even those initially heals dug in reluctant chaperoning husbands had to do a second take at their feet tapping!) But Ronan's bigger than life aura was the stage winner....thanks for explaining about the sunglasses Ronan thought your ego was trying to be as big as your aura! Fantastic.... the crowds reaction said it all...IT WAS A BRILLIANT NIGHT... congrats to the organisers superb organisation.
SID COWANAll i have to say is mcfly were amazing best performance i have ever seen overhere ,
PAULI think your review and especially your headline is very unfair towards RK because to say that he was upstaged by Mcfly was simply not true and gives a wrong impression of the night. Yes Mcfly were very good and everyone under 12 would agree with you, but it was RK that grabbed the attention of the grown ups! He had fantastic stage presence and had the whole audience up on their feet and singing back to him right from the moment he went on stage, which is something Mcfly didn't quite manage untill the end of their set. In saying all that it was a fantastic night that my wife and 2 girls enjoyed and look forward to the next time.
TONYI take my hat off to Jonathan Irving and all people that made the whole Peel Bay Festival what it is? Well done...Even down to the dispersal of the traffic after the event. McFly and Ronan Keating - absolutely fantastic; McFly more so for the youngsters and Ronan eat your heart out - he was fab. Maybe this type of entertainment could happen more often!
CMI'm nearly 40 and thought McFly were fantastic, so you can't say it is only kids who like them! They are excellent musicians and singers. During the McFly concert, the stewards were (quite rightly) telling people to sit down because they were blocking the view of children behind them. By the time Ronan came on, the stewards had given up telling people to sit down, thus it would appear that more people were getting involved for the Ronan concert. Both acts were good, but in my opinion, McFly were the better.
SHARONMcFly were good. Ronan was magic. When he sung 'When You Say Nothing at All' on a beautiful summer's evening in Peel – what a magic memory! Well done to everyone involved.
MARY D. I have to say that the review seems a little biased towards McFly, who I agree were entertaining however did not get the entire audience on their feet, that was Ronan's job. McFly were the support act to warm the crowd up however as I (and the majority of the audience) am over the age of 13 I didn't know many of the words and they failed to get the atmosphere going. I also think that spitting water at the VIP rows was not the treatment that people paid £125.00 per ticket for. Having said all this it was the best £50.00 I have ever spent, topped off by the fact that when Ronan made his way along the front of the stage I was one of the lucky girls whose hand he held! Ronan was AMAZING and this was proved by the singing, applause and screaming from the entire tent of fans. I think whoever wrote this review may have been at a different concert!
TORI COX, OnchanI think Mcfly definitely stole the show. How can u say Ronan Keating was good? I was bored 2 tears. A true Mcfly fan would never like someone who is contact with Mcfly's biggest rivals. HOW VERY DARE U!
ANONWhat can i say?! The Irishman rocked the Peel Bay Festival on Friday night. With some songs from the past and gems from the new album, Ronan had everyone on their feet and in the palm of his hand by the end of the concert...thanks to the organisers for a great event and to the artists for a concert that will stay with me for a long time to come. A great night out in a stunning venue!
LINSEYI agree with the reviewer......Mcfly rocked!!
MUM, aged 32At the end of the day it was a fantastic concert regardless of who was (supposedly) the best. I have to admit to being biased towards McFly (I've seen them play at the Evening News Arena in Manchester and the Peel gig was every bit as good) and was worried that Ronan would be a bit dull in comparison but he surpassed all my expectations. And for the record, I'm 37 so I don't think it's really fair to say that most McFly fans are pre-teens while Ronan caters for the more mature among us.
ALISONI thought the entire show was fantastic. Thank you to all those who were responsible for bringing this concert to the IOM - the organisation involved must have been colossal - I hope it's the first of many.
