THE weekend's wet weather means this week's special FA Cup Team of the Week has only four teams to choose from.
The postponement of the quarter-final ties between Laxey and Peel and St George's and St Mary's put the combatants from Michael, Ayre, Ramsey and DHSOB in the esteemed rating panel's spotlight.

Ramsey's goalkeeper Andy Perry makes a welcome return to the TotW ranks after an impressive showing in the northerners' narrow 1-0 defeat at the hands of Old Boys.

The former Island keeper's team-mate Robbie Campbell fills the hypothetical 11's right full-back berth after another good performance at Ballacloan, while joining him in the TotW's backline are Nick Hurt (Michael), Tommy Miller (DHSOB) and Mark Burman (DHSOB).

Miller and Burman had to demonstrate all their defensive cunning as their northern hosts pushed for an equaliser to send the match in the north to extra time.

Michael player-manager Hurt's good recent form continued at Ballaeira Road where he put in a commanding performance at centre-half to lead his side through their keenly-contested tie with Ayre.

Also catching the eye of the panel in the west were the industrious Richard Crowe (Michael) and Tony Corlett (Ayre) who fill two of this week's selection's three-man midfield.

Crowe and Corlett are joined in the middle of the park by DHSOB's star Craig Stewart who netted the all-important goal in the Blackberry Lane outfit's victory in the northern capital.

Further forward the TotW's attacking trio is made up of Callum Stewart (DHSOB), Kieran Quinn (Michael) and Jamie Moffatt (Michael).

Stewart was in typically menacing fettle for Colin Purvis's men, while Quinn and hat-trick man Moffatt spearheaded the Aces' triumph over the spirited Tangerines.

As with the previous rounds, the FA Cup variety of the Team of the Week has the added luxury of a substitutes' bench to choose from.

Making up this week's reserves are Ayre duo Mark Teare and Jason Craine, plus Ramsey defender Darren Jones.

This week's Referee of the Week accolade goes to Chris Taggart who officiated the tie between Michael and Ayre.

-----------------

The Team of the Week is compiled from marks awarded under the Isle of Man Newspapers player ratings scheme and includes the top-scoring goalkeeper, defenders, midfielders and strikers.

Scoring is co-ordinated by football statistician Eric Clague who sends a panel of neutral observers to assess local fixtures.

The aim is to highlight the players who perform to a consistently high level for their clubs.
