THE Isle of Man will be competing in the Northern Counties Regional Under-21 Women's Hockey tournament in Blackpool this Sunday.
Four counties are involved this year and they are Cumbria, Lancashire, Central Lancs and Cheshire.

Three of last year's squad are now ineligible to participate while two others are unavailable because of university commitments, giving a chance for several new players to get involved.

These include Chloe Lace, Emma Killip, Zoe Brown, Libby Quine, Sammy Callaghan and Claire-Louise Lace who was previously in the 2007 squad.

Zoë Shimmin will captain the team with Helen Thomas as vice-captain. As Donna Harrison is currently touring in Australia the management team welcomes Dee Gimbert to the team.

The North U21 women's development and performance squad selectors will be scouting players to be invited to attend additional training and possible selection to play against Wales and Scotland next year.

The squad in full: Kerry Lockwood, Poppy Walker and Chloe Lace (all (Valkyrs), Louise Corkill, Emma Killip, Zoë Brown, Helen Thomas and Claire-Louise Lace (Bacchas), Leanne Cracknell (Ramsey), Libby Quine, Voirrey Holmes and Delta Williams (Vikings), Zoë Shimmin, Nicci Cain, Sammy Callaghan and Katie Tinkler (Castletown).

Today's Vote

Civil servants are to get a lump sum payment of £200 after a union successfully took this year's pay freeze to arbitration. But government claims it could cause job losses. Is it the right decision?
Yes. It is only fair and the £450,000 cost is not that significant.
No. There are plenty of other things that money could go to and what about those with pay freezes in the private sector.
Don't know. It's only fair if you're not one of those who loses their job as a result.
