Damp end to title race in Cain League

THE expected exciting conclusion to Standard Bank Cain League at the weekend failed to materialise with none of Sunday’s three scheduled matches going ahead.

Cronkbourne, who headed the three teams still in with a shot of the crown going into the Twenty20 competition’s last set of fixtures, were effectively awarded the title on Friday when their opponents Crosby conceded the fixture unable to field a side.

Ramsey who were just a point behind Cronkbourne going into the weekend, called off their match with third-place Castletown stating a waterlogged pitch at Ramsey Grammar School, while in the remaining game at St John’s, Valkyres failed to take to the field.
