Isle of Man cricketers win championships

THE Isle of Man’s cricket side have lifted the ICC European Division Two Championships after beating Sweden by eight wickets in Corfu on Saturday afternoon.

Gareth Dawson’s side won the toss and elected to bowl first and produced a dominant display to remove the Swedes for just 122-7 in the 20-over match.

The island side then wasted little time in securing victory, led by Gareth Morris who hit 71 runs off 41 balls including five fours and five sixes.

He was aided by Max Stokoe who pitched in with 33 before Ollie Webster and Phil Littlejohns helped the island reach 124 for the loss of two wickets in 14.5 overs to clinch the title.
