Manx cricketers claim third win at ICC European Championship

Islanders beat Croatia by six wickets in Corfu

THE Isle of Man’s senior cricket side made it three wins out of four at the ICC European Division Two Championship in Corfu on Wednesday morning with a six-wicket win over one of the pre-tournament favourites Croatia.

Some tight bowling for Gareth Dawson’s men restricted the Croats to 86-7 from their 20 overs. St John’s paceman Akkie Van Den Berg was once again the pick of the island’s bowlers producing figures of 3-13.

In reply the Manx knocked off their target in 16.4 overs for the loss of just four wickets.

The Manx continue their campaign on Thursday morning with their final group B game against Finland ahead of Friday and Saturday’s knockout stages.
