Third Forrester Two title for Crosby B

THE champions of Standard Bank Forrester Division Two are Crosby B. The Marown side took the title after beating Castletown B in their final game of the season on Monday evening.

Christian Steriopulos got Town away to a bright start. Opening the innings he scored 52 not out as wickets tumbled about him.

Only Daniel Laughlin of the other batsmen got into double figures as the southerners ended their 20 overs on 95.

Crosby were soon in trouble, losing two quick wickets. Craig Hartman and Harry Rothwell then came together, butr at 26 for 2 from 10 overs the Marown team were well behind the run rate needed.

The pair then struck out and, with some fine strokes, guided the Marown team to victory after 18 overs. Hartman finished on 35 not out and Rothwell hit a maiden half-century.

It was a great performance for Crosby to win the league. After the first three matches they had only one point. It all changed from there as they won 10 of their next 11 matches.

This is the third time in 27 years that the club has won this division.
