Former Junior Women’s British Road Race Champion Anna Christian has pulled out of the NatWest Island Games.

She was supposed to join the team direct from the British Women’s Road Race Championship in Lincoln, but returned home instead.

Her mother, Jane, said: ‘Anna didn’t have a good day at Lincoln on Sunday, her legs simply weren’t there for her.

‘She’s pretty gutted to pull out of the Games at this late stage, but has instead pressed the recess button and come home to rest up.’

Anna suffered a broken collarbone and wrist in a training accident in Wales last November.
