MARK Cavendish eased to another emphatic win in this year’s edition of the Tour of Britain when he eased to victory in Wednesday’s stage from Carlisle to Blackpool

Following Tuesday’s excellent win, Manchester-based Team Sky produced another superb all-round display during the 156km stage and took advantage of strong crosswinds to split the peloton, meaning there were just 30 riders chasing victory at the end of the route.

The team delivered a near-perfect leadout for the Manxman, with Bradley Wiggins, Christian Knees, Berhard Eisel and Luke Rowe all producing excellent shifts at the front of the pack.

The Manxman made no mistake as he powered effortlessly towards the line to seal another comfortable victory and thus take over the leaders gold jersey.

More in Thursday’s Manx Independent.
