Manxman flies to trademark victory on sixth stage of Italian tour
Mark Cavendish won his second stage of the Giro D’Italia when he sprinted to victory in Thursday’s 154km east coast run from Mola Di Bari to Margherita Di Savoia.
The 27-year-old Manxman produced a textbook finish after being led out by his Omega Pharma-Quickstep team-mates who did a perfect job after being much maligned in recent weeks.
He dedicated the win to Belgium’s Wouter Weylandt who died in the same race two years ago to the day.
Earlier in the week Cavendish won the opening stage round Naples.
