The European regional vice-president of the Commonwealth Games Federation has apologised after three legs emblems were covered on Manx team members’ kit during this week’s games.

Chris Jenkins released a statement to the Isle of Man Commonwealth Games Association saying: ‘I am very sorry about Friday night’s taping up of the Isle of Man national symbol on Keith Gerrard’s vest.

‘I fully understand the depth of feeling over the incident and can assure you that no slight or insult was intended.

‘I can only apologies again and measures have been put in place to ensure this does not happen again.’

The statement added that John Eades, the Commonwealth Games Federation’s operations director, was investigating further and that the IoMCGA can expect a full report in due course.
