The island’s top female cyclist, Anna Christian, has been in the wars this week suffering injuries in two separate incidents.
On Saturday, in her track debut at the Revolution meeting in Manchester, she finished 17th in the points race and 12th in the elimination, but crashed in the scratch event.
She banged herself about in the fall and lost a fair lump of skin, but was patched up by the team doctor at the Olympic Academy training camp in Cardiff the following day.
Back out on the road training on Tuesday morning she then suffered a fall on a slippery patch of road (possibly frosty) close to Abergavenny.
‘The bike went away from under me and I collided with a wall on the opposite side of the road,’ said Anna, yesterday.
The newly signed Wiggle Honda rider broke her left wrist and collarbone. The latter will probably be plated, but she will be off the bike until the New Year.
