Heavy crash for Cav

THERE was disappointment for Mark Cavendish on the opening stage of the Tour of Britain from Ipswich to Norfolk on Sunday when he was involved in a heavy crash near the end.

lTeam Sky had looked well placed to deliver Cavendish to the finish after almost 200 kilometres of racing towards Norfolk Showground.

However, with just 1km to go the Manxman seemingly touched wheels with sprint rival Tyler Farrar and crashed heavily on the road.

The stage victory, however, was claimed by Cav’s team-mate Luke Rowe.
