JOSH Knights came to within three seconds of winning the latest round of the Conister Bank 10-mile time trial league at Sandygate last Wednesday.

The 17-year-old junior set a time of 22min 11sec on a warm and heavy night to very nearly steal Mountain Time Trial winner Darren Bell’s thunder.

Jake Kelly, who set a new junior record for the Colin Nelson Memorial event over the TT Course, was 13 seconds down on his nemesis.

There was a tie for honours in the veteran’s class between 54-year-old Peter Gage and 41-year-old rival Gianni Epifani in joint fourth place.

Jamie Dudley produced another good ride to top the juvenile class in 13th place overall, more than half-a-minute ahead of fellow Royal London 360 riders Leon Mazzone and Matthew Bostock.

Fresh from winning a TLI National Criterium title in North Wales the previous weekend, Laura Wasley led the women’s class by 53 seconds from Ali Clague.

The 10 league takes a break over the TT period. The next round of the series is on Wednesday, June 13.
