Olympic gold medalist Peter Kennaugh has put pen to paper on a new contract at Team Sky.
The 24-year-old was one of the star performers for the British outfit at this year’s Tour de France, playing a pivotal role in team-mate Chris Froome winning the Grand Tour, and is very highly regarded within the squad.
As a result of his performances in 2013, he has been rewarded with a contract extension, as have several other team-mates including Froome and Ian Stannard.
Team Sky’s performance manager Rod Ellingworth has commented on the deals: ‘Everyone is excited to kick things off again in 2014 and we do so with what we believe is the most talented team in the world.
‘We have consolidated what is an incredibly strong group of guys over the winter. The team’s core remains intact and that is important going forward.
‘Everyone is committed to keep improving and we always look to provide the best environment for riders to do that.’
