There is a big entry for Sunday’s Microgaming-sponsored Lighthouses Challenge.

It starts from the TT Grandstand at 9am and there are various choices of course and distance to suit most capabilities.

l SAS Events is also promoting a Crit Fest (kermesse) evening, supported by Dandara at Port Erin on Saturday, July 25 between 6pm and 10.30pm.

It will include a community challenge, future stars race, mountain bike class, Dooley’s dash, wacky races, weekend warriors and senior/veterans races.

l Matt Bostock (junior) and Jake Kelly (U23) have both been selected to represent Great Britain in the European Under-23 and Junior Track Cycling Championships.

It takes place in Athens, Greece from next Tuesday to Sunday, July 19.

l Manx Mountain Bike Club’s annual prize presentation takes place at the Manx Legion in Douglas this Friday 10 from 7.30pm.

l The sixth and final round of the SAS Events-promoted Bikestyle handicap road race series takes place next Thursday,July 16 at Jurby, starting 7pm from the parade ground.

l The John Hamer Road Race takes place on Sunday, July 19.

l Steve Collins is returning from an injured wrist to contest the mountain bike Enduro World Series event at Samoen, France next week, July 18-19.

Locally, PokerStars have stepped in to sponsor next month’s two-day enduro mtb event. It is hoped that the event will attract at least 100 entries, including quite a few from off-island.
