Manx girls at Regional track champs

TEAM Royal London 360 riders Elizabeth Holden and Victoria Kinrade were part of the North West squad that finished second overall in the recent Inter Regional Track Championships at Wales’s National Velodrome in Newport.

The competition was held over three days and consisted of a variety of individual and team events for boys and girls.

On day one Elizabeth, who is still a relative novice at racing on the boards, was a fine seventh in the 10km scratch race and 12th in the points race, with Victoria 14th in the former and 10th in the latter.

The following day Victoria was an excellent third in the keiran and Elizabeth eighth in the the 2km individual pursuit.

The third and final day’s racing comprised two gruelling events - a team sprint and team pursuit, with the Manx girls helping the North West to take third in the sprint and fourth in the pursuit.

After three days of hard racing, East Midlands topped the overall standings a clear 25 points ahead of North West who in turn were 18 points ahead of West Midlands.
