Season goes from bad to worse for Rushen
DEFENDING champions Rushen suffered another huge setback in their quest to retain their Canada Life Premier League crown when they were emphatically crushed 6-0 by DHSOB at Blackberry Lane on Wednesday evening.
The Spaniards have suffered a nightmare start to the campaign which has seen them lose four out of their opening five games and they now sit just one place above the relegation zone.
Callum Stewart was their main tormentor as he helped himself to a hat-trick before Robbie Ward, Iain Ramsey and Greg Taylor all got their names on the scoresheet to complete the rout and move Old Boys up to fourth in the league.
St Mary's continue to set the pace at the summit as they coasted to a 7-1 victory over relegation-candidates Michael at Springfield Road to maintain their 100 per cent record.
Golden boot contender Steven Priestnal was once again heavily involved in the scoring as he netted no fewer than four goals - the third time he has done so already this season - to take his personal goal tally to 16 goals in just five matches.
Striker partner Martin Reilly also helped himself to a couple of goals and Liam Doyle netted the Saints' other strike.

Peel are the only team to have matched Peter Langridge's men points-wise so far and they got the better of Laxey in an eight-goal thriller at Douglas Road.
Despite Ashley Webster netting a hat-trick for the Miners, a brace from Matthew Woods along with strikes from Ryan Holdaway and Kerron Christian as well as an own goal ensured the points went to the Sunset City side.
St George's surprisingly dropped points at Castletown on Saturday when Calum Morrisey's second half strike rescued a draw after Kevin Cain had given the southerners the lead, Geordies got back to winning ways with a 2-0 over victory-less Ramsey at Glencrutchery Road on Wednesday evening.
However, the northerners can take a lot of positives from their performance after missing a number of chances in a goal-less first half.
Ciaran McNulty had the first chance, his low shot was tipped away by a horizontal Andy Perry before Ramsey came close when Matt Curphey twice shot narrowly over the crossbar while Martin Torr, Ryan Fairclough and Johnny Shields all came close for the visitors.
Two goals in two minutes shortly after the break secured victory for the Geordies. On 51 minutes McNulty worked a yard of shooting space, slotting his shot into the net for the opener. A minute later, Chris Bass's cross was flicked by McNulty into the path of Sam Caine to slot home Geordies second to secure the points.
A Jack Chamer strike in injury time helped Castletown record their first Canada Life Premier League win of the season at Douglas Royal on Wednesday evening.
The visitors took the lead during a hard fought opening half when Alex Crawley out-muscled defender Peter Dunn before smartly chipping the ball home.
Both sides enjoyed chances to add to the scoreline before Ezequiel Baretta headed home a Dunn free-kick to level the scores soon after the interval. Injuries took their toll as the game drew to a close before Charmer grabbed a dramatic late winner much to the delight of the travelling fans.
Corinthians, who produced the shock of the season so far when they beat Rushen 3-1 at Coit Lowey on Saturday, recorded their second maximum in a week when they edge Gymns 2-1 at Groves Road.
Lewis Thornton gave the Whites a 14th minute lead from the penalty spot before Ruairi Mooney netted what proved to be the winner with 12 minutes remaining while Nick Bowden scored Gymns' goal.
