Ayre United bring in six

AYRE United boosted their JCK Division Two promotion hopes this week with the confirmation of six new signings.

Five of the summer arrivals come from fellow relegated side and northern rivals Ramsey Youth Centre and Old Boys. Striker Jason Craine returns to the Andreas Playing Fields after a season in the top flight with the Scooil Ree Gorree outfit.

Joining Craine at the Tangerines will be Elliott Cureton, George Rawlinson, Kris Murdoch and winger Stephen Jordan. Also making a return to United for a second spell is Chris Duggan who was at Ramsey last season.

Onchan have also been busy in the Manx transfer window bringing in three. Midfielder Andy Bunce joins from top-flight Rushen, while Greg Taylor and Mark Rees have moved from Douglas High School Old Boys and Pulrose respectively.

Elsewhere Union Mills have strengthened their squad on their return to the Canada Life Premier League with the signings of Ian Drake and Richard Cannell.

Title contenders Peel, St Mary’s and Laxey have also made some astute signings.

The westerners have brought in former island keeper Stuart Fayle from RYCOB, while St Mary’s have captured highly rated full-back Harry Weatherill from Ramsey.

Also leaving the latter is experienced midfielder Paul Rowley who has made his way down to the east coast to link up with former Ramsey men Ashley Webster and Danny Foulis at Laxey.
