Castletown claim southern bragging rights in Women’s League

CASTLETOWN registered their first win of the Warehouse Fitness Women’s-Only Gym-sponsored Women’s League with a 4-0 over their southern rivals on Sunday.

Leading 3-0 at half-time, Kira Buchan, Sarah Denny, Trisha Fleming and Justine Carran netted for the Stadium outfit.

Both Ballafletcher sides got wins before their derby this Sunday. Corinthians clocked up a 0-4 win at Colby after taking a two-goal lead at the break, Stephanie Hall (2), Jade Burden and Lauren Christian scoring for the Whites.

Douglas Royal registered the biggest win of the afternoon with a 15-2 victory over Peel. Leading 6-2 at half-time, Donna Shimmin (4), Bekki Cole (3), Sarah Breen (3),Bekkie Colquitt (2), Leanne Quayle (2) and Becci Pate scored for the Whites, the western response came via strikes from Maxine Smalley and Emma Miller.

The match involving DHSOB and Laxey was postponed as Laxey couldn’t field a team.
