LAXEY defender Darryl Haslett has been named as the Canada Life Player of the Month for February and March.
The left-back has produced a series of excellent displays for the Glen Road outfit throughout the season and has been instrumental in maintaining the Miners’ title challenge in the Canada Life Premier League.
Such have been his performances that Haslett has earned no fewer than five Team of the Week appearances thus far in the 2011-12 season after impressing Eric Clague’s esteemed ratings panel and picked up the man-of-the-match honours in his side’s 3-1 over Corinthians at the end of March.
He amassed a total of 11.5 points during February and March, a score which has seen him leap up the overall standings into ninth place.
Another Miner to impress during that period was Haslett’s team-mate Danny Foulis. The box-to-box midfielder enojoyed several fine performances in the middle of the pitch and also scored twice during the Glen Road side’s 6-1 hammering of Rushen United at Croit Lowey on his way to eight points.
Also catching the eye in midfield was Peel winger Lee Gale who has been pivotal in helping the westerners through a season of transition, as well as scoring five times including a hat-trick during the Sunset City side’s 10-1 demolition of Ayre United recently.
Level with Gale in third place is St Mary’s forward Steven Priestnal whose prolific form has helped lift the Bowl outfit up to third in the table and still in with an outside chance of snatching the title from Laxey or Geordies.
Leading the referee standings is former Rushen stalwart Gareth Jones ahead of Andy Lodge and Chris Taggart.
