Ellan Vannin’s ConIFA World Football Cup odyssey continues tonight, Friday, with a mouth-watering semi-final tie against Arameans Suryoye in Sweden.
The Manx International Football Alliance’s have exceeded expectations at the 12-team competition, beating strong sides from County of Nice and the Nagorno Karabakh on their way to topping the tournament’s initial group stages.
Chris Bass Sr’s 250-1 outsiders then took the prized scalp of pre-tournament favourties Kurdistan, who won the similar VIVA World Cup in 2012, in a dramatic penalty shoot-out on Wednesday evening, to set up the last four tie with the Arameans.
This evening’s semi-final kicks off at 6pm and can be streamed live at http://worldfootballcup.org/. Jaks bar will also be showing the match and a large crowd is expected there to cheer on the Manx as they look to secure a place in Sunday’s final against either Nice or South Ossetia.
