St Mary’s took advantage of the fact St George’s aren’t playing until Sunday to move to the top of the Canada Life Premier League this afternoon.

Sam Kenny’s Bowl outfit triumphed 4-2 at Union Mills thanks to a brace from talisman Steven Priestnal and a goal apiece from Danny Gerrard and Marc Priestnal.

Elsewhere, St John’s moved back into the top four with a spirited win at Laxey. Despite missing a host of first-team regulars, including influential player-manager Nick Hurt, the Saints triumphed 3-0 thanks to two goals from John Haggerdon and a wonder strike from youngster Rhys Oates.

The Johnners western neighbours Peel were also celebrating as they beat relegation threatened RYCOB 6-1 at Douglas Royal. Lee Gale and Dan Hawke both scored twice for the home side, with singles for Kerron Christian and Daniel Bell.

At the top of JCK Division Two Gymns and Douglas Royal remain in the promotion spots after big wins over Malew and Douglas and District respectively.

Full round up and reports from St John’s v Laxey; Onchan v Pulrose and Marown v Braddan in Monday’s last Examiner of the year.
