St George’s will begin their Canada Life Premier League defence on August 15 with a testing trip to Paul Jones and Steve Burns’s Rushen United.
The southerners were the last team to beat Geordies to the Manx top-flight crown, Burns and Paul’s dad Gareth steering the Spaniards to the Premier League title in 2010.
Croit Lowey was also the scene of St George’s infamous ‘Mumps-gate’ defeat of 2012 that ended the Glencrutchery Road side’s hopes of bettering Peel’s 55-match unbeaten run of the 1970s.
With the new United management team eager to get off to a good start, this should be a cracker.
Promoted sides Marown and RYCOB have testing opening weekends in store.
Last season’s JCK Division Two champions begin their campaign at home to DHSOB, while Youthie travel to a St John’s side now under the guidance of former Ramsey duo Kevin Holmes and Barry Gaffney.
Peel, who pushed St George’s all the way last term, begin their title challenge at last season’s Railway Cup semi-finalists Ramsey.
Steven Priestnal’s St Mary’s also make the trip north, taking on Ayre, while the opening Saturday’s Premier League fixture card is completed by Corinthians visit to Laxey.
In JCK Division Two, relegated duo Gymns and Michael host Castletown and Governor’s Athletic respectively.
Fellow promotion contenders Colby and Douglas Athletic welcome Douglas and District and Pulrose United respectively, while Douglas Royal take on Foxdale and Malew play host to Braddan.
