THERE was a real second-half goal feast at Tromode in the Warehouse Fitness-sponsored Women’s Football League on Sunday which saw Gymnasium defeat Castletown 8-5.
The Douglas outfit led 2-1 at the break, Zoe Carney (3), Gillian Christian (2), Eleanor Gawne (2) and Sammie Macdonald netted for the hosts while the southern reply came via efforts from Trisha Fleming (3), Sarah Denny and Kira Buchan.
DHSOB’s Hattie Castle maintained her impressive goalscoring streak with a five-goal haul as the Douglas side defeated Laxey 10-0. She was joined on the scoresheet with Maria Coulter (3), Sarah Anderson and Rachael Christian. The Blackberry Lane outfit led 7-0 at half-time.
Champions Corinthians registered a 5-2 win Colby. With the scores level 1-1 at the break, Melissa Bell (2), Kiera Morgan (2) and a Stephanie Hall penalty netted for the Whites, the southern reply came via a Laura Beggs’ brace.
Douglas Royal also clocked up a victory with a 12-2 win over Peel. Leading 4-1 at the break, Leanne Quayle (3), Sarah Breen (2), Siobhann Lockwood (2), Rebecca Cole (2), Kym Hicklin, Jenni Bruce and an own goal sealed victory for the Floodlit Cup winners, the western response came via strikes from Maxine Smalley and Nicola Naden.
