Round up of Sunday’s women’s football

GYMNASIUM made their passage through to the quarter-final of the MBL-sponsored FA Cup by defeating Peel 5-0 at Douglas Road on Sunday.

Leading 2-0 at the break, Gillian Christian (2), Eleanor Gawne, Dawn Quinn and Mia Brigantova netted for the Tromode side.

Elsewhere, in the MBL Women’s League, both Ballafletcher clubs registered away victories ahead of Sunday’s forthcoming derby.

Corinthians defeated Laxey 6-0 at Glen Road. Leading 4-0 at the break, Megan Loughran (2), Jade Burden (2), Anna Dillon and Rachel Quirk all scored for the capital club.

Douglas Royal beat Castletown 5-3 at the Stadium. The Douglas side were leading 3-1 at the oranges, Donna Shimmin (4) and Leanne Ashe netted for the visitors, while Justine Carran (2) and Trisha Fleming were on target for the southerners.

The match involving DHSOB and Colby was postponed due to a waterlogged pitch.
