Preliminary round draw made for newly-sponsored Paddy Power FA Cup.
THE preliminary round draw for this season’s FA Cup has thrown up several intriguing ties no more so than at Balleira Road where Division Two leaders Michael will host top-flight stragglers Ramsey.
The draw, which took place at Wednesday evening’s launch of new sponsor Paddy Power’s involvement in the competition, has paired together four other second division sides with Premier League opponents.
Braddan will host the knockout competition’s most successful team Peel at Victoria Road, while the westerners Old Firm rivals Rushen host Ayre at Croit Lowey.
Elsewhere, Douglas Royal will fly the second-tier standard at Union Mills and Malew will face the daunting task of welcoming current Premier League leaders Laxey to Clagh Vane.
In the round’s three all-Premier League ties, holders St George’s take on Corinthians at Glencrutchery Road while fellow silverware contenders St Mary’s host St John’s at the Bowl.
The final all top-flight affair sees Castletown face Marown at the Stadium.
The ties between Division Two sides’ Pulrose and Ronaldsway and Onchan and RYCOB complete the round.
