Ellan Vannin’s group opponents for next month’s ConIFA World Football Cup have changed slightly with Zanzibar forced to withdraw from the competition.
The Manx were due to play the East Africans and Nagorno Karabakh FA in the group stages of the 12-team tournament. Zanzibar, however, now can’t get Visas to enter host nation Sweden and will be replaced in Group D by the County of Nice, a historical region in south-east France.
Many of the latter’s squad will come from the youth team of professional Ligue 1 outfit OGC Nice.
Chris Bass Sr’s Ellan Vannin squad kick-off their campaign against Nagorno Karabakh on June 1 before facing Nice the next day.
Quebec, who were also due to make the trip to Ostersund, have also had to drop out of the ConIFA-organised event with the Canadian FA not willing to release some of their players.
They will now be replaced in Group C by South Ossetia, a region within Georgia.
