St George's and St Mary's go head-to-head in the Eric Fletcher Charity Shield on the evening of Friday, August 8

Reigning champions will begin the defence of their Canada Life Premier League title with a tricky trip to Blackberry Lane and Douglas High School Old Boys.

Old Boys denided the Glencrutchery Road club the Grand Slam last season with victory in May’s Hospital Cup final.

As an added twist the game will be new DHSOB manager John Ward’s first official match in charge.

St Mary’s, who will take on St George’s in the Eric Fletcher Charity Shield on the evening of Friday, August 8 at the Bowl, host Union Mills in their league match under new manager Mark Gorman.

Promoted duo Gymns and Ayre face Corinthians and Laxey respectively, while there’s a tasty western derby on the cards between St John’s and Peel at Mullen-e-Cloie.

The final top-flight game of the campaign’s opening weekend sees Paul Corlett and Antony Corkill’s Michael United face a Rushen United now under the charge of Ben Qualtrough.

In JCK Division Two, relegated Castletown begin their season at home to the yet to be named new team, while RYCOB take on Douglas Athletic.

Elsewhere promotion contenders Colby meet Braddan, Douglas Royal host Douglas and District and Malew welcome Pulrose to Clagh Vane.

Finally Onchan take on Foxdale.
