Castletown registered their first win of the season with a 3-1 victory over DHSOB at the Stadium in the Warehouse Fitness-sponsored women’s league on Sunday.

Leading 3-0 at the break, Kim Watson (2) and Becky Watterson were on target for the Reds, while the Blackberry Lane’s reply came via a Kate Lowey effort.

Elsewhere, Corinthians’ title ambitions suffered a setback as they could only draw 2-2 against Gymnasium in Tromode. The game was goal-less at half-time before Gill Christian and Alannah Hall scored for the hosts and the Ballafletcher side netted through Jade Burden and Casey Halsall.

Douglas Royal’s title challenge remains firmly on track thanks to an 8-2 win over Colby. Leading 4-1 at the intermission, Donna Shimmin (3), Rebecca Cole (3) Bekki Colquitt and Angela Waite scored for the Ballafletcher outfit while the southern riposte can via a Natalie Swales brace.

A full round-up of all the women’s football will appear in this week’s Manx Independent.
