THE IoM women’s football team are in competitive action this weekend, participating in the third Appleby-sponsored Inter-Island tournament.
This biennial competition takes place in the Isle of Wight, the first time the English island have hosted the event. The IoM are the current holders of this competition, winning the trophy two years previously on home soil, while last year they collected silver in the NatWest Island Games, ironically held in the Isle of Wight.
Player-manager Sammie MacDonald and coach Chris Langford have named a 15-player squad, including a number of new faces - only nine players were involved in last year’s silver medal success.
The IoM have proved to be the best women’s British Isles team in recent years and that reputation will be further enhanced if they secure more silverware this weekend.
